As some might gather from my picture I enjoy training dogs, and given my intrinsic love for standing strong my forte is security and dogs of a protective nature, hence the particular picture on my profile, one of my former female during personal protection training...... but getting to the point here, I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dog behaviour, and I mean dogs of all kinds, and I would like to offer my help and advice to any FCP members relating to their dogs completely free, a contribution for fuel would be welcome in the event I have to travel, but otherwise my knowledge is your knowledge and I am happy to share as much as I can to help develop the bond between you and your dog. My methods for raising and keeping dogs in a relaxed and sociable state are devised very much from a strong energetic stand point, and given that most people here are aware of their own energy/aura, I feel my methods may be easier to convey to someone who I know already has knowledge of their own true power, who understands they are broadcasting their energy at all times. So if there is anyone who could use some pointers, my door is always open, all you need do is pop your head in

And going back to briefly to my bailiffs/debt collector saga so just touching on the security note for a moment. My dogs have played a key role in me being able to secure what is mine so that bailiffs/debt collectors cannot steal from me.

Hi Jade.. Prerhaps just a combination of the particular dog your have (breed and/or individual character/energy levels) coupled with the fact that your energetic command over your space may not be so dominant, but there may well be other factors......... I am a beacon of energetic dominance so all my dogs are 100% chilled and when at home spend most of every day just sleeping.

Ok we have free use of a room on any Wednesday. We have a collaboration with a group called the umbrella fair organisa
tion who have the building and cafe. They also help promote the event for us. We have access to speakers and screen etc should you need them and they'd be happy for your dog's to come to along too. But I'll explain it in more depth if I see you at the next meeting. We have a few people lined up inc Ian r crane.

Firstly you'd do yourself a great favour by learning the basic signs of dog behaviour, particularly the signs which lead up to an unwanted behaviour. If you can address something while it is in a dogs mind, before it comes into the physical world, you will hand yourself a great advantage because the moment the dog thinks about something, if you are there to address its thoughts will help to gradually condition the brain into a level restraint as the dog will come to know that you are very much on top of things in your enviroment. Regarding your energy, remember that you are everything. Positive, negative, neutral, equal light and equal dark, so If you can bring your energy and body language to represent the full spectrum of all that you are, displayed in perfect balance, a caring, kind ,loving, affectionate leader, and at the same time a fearless, uncompromising, all conquering warrior, then your dogs will see you in all your glory and come to respect you as the leader. The self should be presented as calm and collected, cool confidence must reign supreme from within and be projected outward. He has come in for much criticism but Ceasar Millan is a good reference for self presentation. Strip away all the dog training from his shows and when he breaks down his outlook on life you begin to see more of a life coach than a dog trainer. This was one thing that helped me to understand how our dogs behaviour will reflect our inner selves, and with this realisation I was able to develop my understanding of my dogs myself, and out bond.

I developed what I call the "Pyramid Structure" to develop relationships with dogs....... The foundation must be Discipline, through discipline you will earn Respect, which is followed by Trust, an then at the summit, Love/Affection....... The foundation of anything must be strong, so drawing on the full scope of balance we begin our relationship with dogs with discipline, setting out our stance as the calm yet uncompromising leader, your first message if that you are the figure of authority, but a fair one.... In time we move up a step in the pyramid as the dog recognises your regime of positive discipline they will trust in you as a being worthy and capable of fulfilling the leadership role of their pack.... We move up again as the dog as time goes on, the dog will trust in your reign as a disciplined figure and as the provider and controller of feeding time, playing time an safety in the home where we sleep, you will earn great respect from your pack as a leader as you will of proven yourself able and worthy to lead by providing order within the pack, food for all, play time for all and a safe comfortable place to sleep.... All these things combined will bring you to the summit, where Love and Affection will flow down into every stage of the pyramid... When you understand and are able to install discipline for a perspective of love, harmony should run thorughout every dog in your pack

Hi, just found your post on help with dogs. I have an 8 month female Beagle. I have read one of ceasar millan's books. Definitely the owners energy is crucial. It would be great to have your opinion on how I can curb her natural smell instinct. I have had times when she has been off the lead and would not return to my whistle recall. I really want to be able to let her off but worry I will lose her. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't of thought curbing the use of scent would be in anyway beneficial, or even very possible for a scent hound type dog like a beagle that is bred for that very purpose, they may also be like my elder mastiff who is just of a very environmentally thorough mentality, everything gets a sniff, check and double check, and i can imagine your dog is probably the same, couple that with the fact you have a dog bred for a natural drive and ability to track and search, and i think you'll be best to feed this desire to schieve your goal... I can picture your dog now, I can imagine the usual behaviour and if your dog is anything like I am seeing you'll want to work with the dog on scenting activities, stimulate what drives them and feed that motivation, i have found that through feeding a dogs natural working drives you willl allow yourself more ability to mould the character we all desire in a dog, a calm complete temperament, social stable & obedient...fulfilling working drives (in this case what seems like a pure natural will to use the nose, to track and to search) will build the bond between hander and dog, allowing you further access to achieve success in other areas, in this case, obedience...... my initial thought for achieving the end goal ASAP, you'll probably want to find what motivates the dog (probably scent wise, but maybe through ball drive, which is basically the dogs willingness to play/chase/bite when you pick up a toy), what gets their attention, and then figure out how to bring that motivator into a tracking and/or search scenario....... perhaps I am slightly the wrong man for this job as my forte is security/protection sports/athletics & hunters, I have some knowledge and a basic understanding of how to apply various methods but have little experience in tracking/search...... if youd like to see if your dog takes to track/search work, and if this could maybe grant you further access into an area of obedience, then let me know and I will have a little dig to see who might be best to start your dog in some activities.... at the same time i will see if anyone in my network has any thoughts or info on recall for highly focused scent hounds.... ill pass on the info and if you would like me to pop in at some point id be happy to do so
